Disney+ is a streaming app, presented by The Walt Disney Company. It offers a library of over 100 titles, including content from Marvel, Pixar, National Geographic, and Star Wars.

Design and Navigation: Netflix Goes Undercover

The app’s design is as close to Netflix, as the copyrights allow it. It looks almost the same, only with a different color palette. The good point is that the app is extremely user friendly: main sections are pinned below, allowing you to quickly move from the downloads section to the search tool, for example.

The shows are presented with nice posters, the buttons are very illustrative, making the app very intuitive. It is a great example of Plug and Play design, where any user will quickly figure out how the app works.

Features and Usability: Stream It Fast

Features are pretty standard for a modern streaming app: you can stream movies online or download them, in case you want to save mobile data. You can add shows to your lists and look for other shows with the search tool. The homepage offers to filter content by the studio, responsible for it, making it easier to find something interesting.

Some users report streaming bugs, but Disney does its best to fix them. Nevertheless, you can always download a movie and watch it smoothly. The app is ad-free and allows you to stream content on four devices at once, which comes for a price of $6.99 per month.

Security: Not Always Secure

Despite the fact Disney claims to constantly audit and improve their security protection, there have been several controversies, connected with data breaches.

In 2019, thousands of users reported their accounts to be hacked and sold on cybercrime forums. The users have been since asking Disney to implement a two-factor authentication feature, but the company seems to ignore these requests. The best thing you can do to protect your account is to change the password from time to time.

For Users of:

  • Netflix;
  • Amazon Prime Video.

Verdict

Disney+ is a nice streaming app, though it won’t be suitable for everyone. It offers a comparably low library of content, most of which are Disney’s blockbusters or exclusive shows. Unless you are a fan of Marvel, National Geographic, Star Wars, or Pixar, there is no reason for you to subscribe.
