Hulu is an on-demand streaming platform that has been around for many years. It's one of the largest platforms in the US with over 32 million subscribers. It presents a great cable-cutting alternative.

On-Demand Content

Hulu's home screen is divided into five tabs with additional subcategories for easier navigation. The "Home" tab includes a list of suggestions, as well as content that you're viewing. The "My Stuff" tub is your personal librarian. It organizes titles you save by movies, shows, and networks. The "Search" tab lets you browse specific shows and movies. Finally, the "Account" tab lets you manage your subscription details.

You can pause, rewind, and fast-forward all content, but it includes ads. You can get an add-free subscription for an additional fee. The streaming quality is between 720p and 1080p, and it adjusts automatically depending on your bandwidth.

Two Subscription Plans

In exchange for a low monthly fee, Hulu Basic throws ads at you multiple times as you stream. Paying for Hulu and seeing ads doesn't feel right, even at a very low monthly cost. A short video will have one ad at the beginning and two ads during the show.

You can only watch content on two screens with your Basic subscription. Unfortunately, even if you opt for a more expensive subscription plan, some shows will still have ads. If you're willing to pay a bit more, you can add content from other streaming platforms (e.g. Cinemax and HBO).

Convenient Cloud Storage

You can record your favorite TV shows. Every subscriber gets 50 hours of cloud storage, but you can't fast-forward through ads. This is the baseline allowance, but you can always add-on up to 200 hours of storage. The app shows the amount of storage left.

You can record the whole show or only a few episodes. Hit Like or Dislike to let Hulu know if you enjoyed a particular show and get content recommendations.
