Microsoft Teams is an app for teamwork, released by Microsoft in 2017. It offers a variety of features for team interaction, including chats, video conferences, schedule creation, file storage, and many more.
Design, Navigation, and Usability: Easy to Learn, Hard to Master
In order to use the basic functions of Microsoft Team you don’t have to be a tech geek. However, just like most other apps by Microsoft, Teams requires a lot of learning to effectively use advanced features.
The app is capable of so many features, you will easily get lost in the interface, trying to find something more complicated than chat, conference or file storage. However, once you have understood how the app works, you will find it pretty effectively-structured.
From this point of view, Teams is very similar to Excel: it is easy to create a basic table with totals, but when it comes to writing macros or using complicated functions, it requires a lot of learning.
Features: All for Your Team
Just like many other programs presented by Microsoft, Teams is complicated, but very powerful. There are several features for communicating, including individual or group chats, voice and video calls, tagging of teammates, to-do lists, calendars, and file storage.
There are also some organizational features, including editing and sharing files on the go, searching through messages with a smart tool, configuring notifications, and creating dashboards for important items or events.
This, of course, is only a short version of what Microsoft Teams app can do. In fact, the app is capable of doing almost anything you would expect from such software, though it is sometimes an issue to find the necessary feature.
Security: Locked by Microsoft
The app offers enterprise-level security for companies to store their sensitive information. The calls and chats are protected, as well as the shared files, all of which being encrypted. Microsoft Teams also offers two-factor authentication, preventing unwanted logins. The app has never been part of data breach controversies and it is based on the Office 365 hyper-scale cloud, meaning it is one of the safest options for enterprises.
